Why the quality of our ingredients matters: hormone & antibiotic free meats, nitrite-free bacon, and phosphate-free shrimp

Gluten Free – Gluten Free Available – Vegetarian – Spicy – Hormone & Antibiotic Free – From Scratch

At Ron’s Original Bar & Grille, we’ve always believed that great food starts with great ingredients. Long before “clean eating” became a trend, we were asking a simple question:

Would we feel good serving this to our own families?

That question continues to guide every decision we make in our kitchen. It’s why we prepare our food fresh daily, avoid artificial colors, flavors, and preservatives whenever possible, and continually search for better ingredients that support the health and well-being of our guests.

Three ingredients we’re particularly proud of are our hormone and antibiotic-free meats, nitrite-free bacon, and phosphate-free shrimp.

Hormone & Antibiotic-Free Meats: A Better Choice From Farm to Table

Not all meat is raised the same way.

Many conventionally raised animals receive antibiotics throughout their lives, often as a preventative measure rather than to treat illness. While antibiotics play an important role in animal health when needed, their routine use has raised concerns among health professionals and consumers alike.

That’s why we choose meats raised without antibiotics and added hormones whenever possible.

By sourcing higher-quality proteins, we’re able to provide our guests with food that is closer to the way nature intended. Beyond supporting responsible farming practices, many customers simply appreciate knowing exactly what they’re putting into their bodies.

When you order a cheesesteak made with our premium ribeye, a grilled chicken dish, or one of our many protein-packed menu favorites, you can feel confident knowing we’ve put significant thought into where those ingredients come from.

Why We Choose Nitrite-Free Bacon

Bacon is one of life’s simple pleasures, but not all bacon is created equal.

Traditional bacon is often cured using sodium nitrite or other synthetic curing agents. While these ingredients help preserve color and shelf life, many health-conscious consumers prefer products made without added nitrites.

Our nitrite-free bacon is cured using more natural methods while still delivering the rich flavor and crispy texture that bacon lovers expect.

For us, it’s another example of choosing ingredients with fewer unnecessary additives. We believe that when cleaner alternatives are available without sacrificing quality or taste, they’re worth the investment.

The result is bacon that aligns with our philosophy of serving food that is both delicious and thoughtfully sourced.

Phosphate-Free Shrimp: A Cleaner Seafood Choice

Most people have never heard of phosphates in shrimp, but they’re surprisingly common in the seafood industry.

Phosphates are often added to shrimp to help retain moisture and increase weight. While approved for use in food production, these additives can sometimes affect texture and result in shrimp that contains more retained water than naturally occurring seafood should.

We specifically source phosphate-free shrimp because we believe our guests deserve seafood in its most natural form.

Phosphate-free shrimp typically offers a cleaner taste, firmer texture, and greater transparency about what you’re actually receiving on your plate.

Simply put, when you order shrimp at Ron’s, you’re paying for shrimp, not added water.

Our Commitment to Your Health

At Ron’s, we know that dining out should be enjoyable, but we also believe it shouldn’t force you to compromise your standards.

That’s why we’ve spent years making changes behind the scenes that many guests may never notice:

  • Hormone and antibiotic-free meats
  • Nitrite-free bacon
  • Phosphate-free shrimp
  • No artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives whenever possible
  • No high fructose corn syrup
  • House-made seed-oil free dressings
  • A continued commitment to eliminating seed oils throughout our kitchen

These choices aren’t always the easiest or least expensive options, but they’ve always been the right ones for our guests.

For over 33 years, our mission has remained the same: serve food we’re proud of, made with ingredients we trust, to people we care about.

Because at the end of the day, it’s not just about what tastes good.

It’s about serving food that helps you feel good, too.

Our Food. Your Body.
