Why we choose cleaner ingredients: our commitment to better food

At Ron’s Original Bar & Grille, every ingredient we bring into our kitchen has to answer one simple question:

Would we proudly serve this to our own family?

If the answer isn’t a confident “yes,” it doesn’t belong on our menu.

That’s why we’ve spent years rethinking the ingredients we use, from eliminating seed oils to choosing meats without added nitrites and nitrates whenever possible, making our dressings in-house, and sourcing higher-quality products from trusted suppliers.

One area that’s become increasingly important to us is minimizing our use of ingredients that may contain glyphosate residue whenever practical.

What Is Glyphosate?

Glyphosate is one of the most widely used herbicides in the world. It is commonly applied to crops to control weeds and, in some cases, to help dry certain crops before harvest.

Because it’s used in conventional agriculture, trace residues can sometimes be found in foods made from those crops.

Research into glyphosate continues, and scientists and health organizations have reached different conclusions about its potential health effects. While regulatory agencies have established limits they consider safe for consumers, many people prefer to reduce their exposure whenever possible.

At Ron’s, we believe our guests should have access to food made with thoughtfully sourced ingredients.

Why We Source Better Ingredients

We know our customers are paying more attention than ever to what they’re eating, and so are we.

Our goal isn’t to create fear around food. It’s to create confidence.

Confidence that we’ve done the homework.

Confidence that we’ve chosen ingredients we feel good about serving.

Confidence that when you dine with us, you’re enjoying food made with care, intention, and quality.

That’s why we continually look for suppliers who share our philosophy of producing cleaner, less processed ingredients.

Why We Use Italian “00” Flour

One of the best examples of this philosophy is the flour used in many of our pizza and bread offerings.

Instead of relying solely on conventional American flour, we use imported Italian “00” flour for many of our recipes.

So why does that matter?

Italian “00” flour is prized for its exceptionally fine texture, which creates dough that’s light, tender, and beautifully balanced. It’s one of the reasons authentic Italian pizza has such an incredible bite.

But for us, it’s about more than texture.

Italy has different agricultural regulations than the United States, including restrictions on certain farming practices. Many customers specifically seek out Italian flour because they appreciate those standards and prefer products made under those guidelines.

The result is a cleaner ingredient that aligns with our commitment to quality while delivering outstanding flavor.

Better Ingredients. Better Flavor.

One thing we’ve learned over the years is that you don’t need artificial shortcuts when you start with exceptional ingredients.

  • Fresh produce.
  • Quality meats.
  • Real cheeses.
  • House-made sauces.
  • Extra virgin olive oil.
  • Imported Italian flour.
  • Fresh-baked rolls.

These aren’t marketing buzzwords, they’re the foundation of every meal we serve.

When ingredients are chosen with care, the food simply tastes better.

We Believe Food Should Be Transparent

We know everyone has different priorities when it comes to nutrition and ingredient sourcing.

Some guests visit us because they’re avoiding seed oils.

Others are looking for gluten-free options.

Some want meats without unnecessary additives.

Others appreciate knowing where their ingredients come from.

Whatever brought you through our doors, we believe you deserve honesty about what’s on your plate.

That’s why we’re always happy to answer questions about our ingredients, our sourcing, and why we’ve made the choices we have.

Doing Things the Right Way

Choosing higher-quality ingredients isn’t always the easiest path.

It costs more.

It takes more effort.

It requires building relationships with suppliers who care about quality as much as we do.

But we’ve never believed that “good enough” is good enough.

Our commitment has always been simple:

Serve food we’d proudly put on our own family’s table.

Because at Ron’s, better ingredients aren’t just an investment in great flavor, they’re an investment in the people who trust us to feed them.
